Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

What is Pelvic Health Physiotherapy?

Pelvic health, or pelvic floor physiotherapy, is the assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding structures. The pelvic floor is located below the uterus, bladder and large intestines and has a variety of responsibilities: maintains continence, assists in stabilizing our joints, helps with congestion and elimination, sexual and reproductive health, and much more! Just like any other muscle, our pelvic floor can get weak, over strained, tight and tender and requires the appropriate care to help you return to a pain-free, high functioning lifestyle!

  • Urinary Incontinence (stress or urge)
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse (uterine, cystocele and rectocele)
  • Chronic pelvic pain (including vaginal, perineal or rectal)
  • Vaginismus or Dyspareunia (painful intercourse)
  • Pregnancy Related Pelvic Girdle Pain
  • Chronic low back, sacroiliac joint and/or hip pain

In order to fully assess the pelvic floor, review your goals and concerns, establish a diagnosis and create a treatment plan that is tailored to you, your initial visit will be 60 mins long, with a few forms we ask that you fill out beforehand.  It is recommended, and very common, that both an external and internal exam is performed to better assess the pelvic floor and understand where any problems originate from. But don’t worry, we want you to feel comfortable when coming into our clinic, so if you’re having second thoughts about pelvic floor physiotherapy, our physiotherapist Amanda is offering free telephone consultations to answer any questions you might have before booking an initial assessment.

Please call the clinic if you would like to speak to Amanda prior to booking your first appointment!

We look forward to seeing you!Call 613-435-9144 or Email or Amanda directly
