In addition to providing hands-on treatment in our clinic, our physiotherapists equip you with evidence-based education and resources to support your child’s progress at home. We believe in empowering parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions and actively participate in their child’s care. This is a collaborative partnership between our team and your family. Our ultimate goal is to help your child reach their full potential, regain function, and lead a happy, active life.

Children needing chiropractic care may seem unlikely, but it’s more common than you think. Kids don’t always talk about ongoing pain like adults do, and their bodies can handle a lot without showing obvious signs of discomfort. However, as they grow, their bodies undergo many changes and stressors, making it important to take care of them early on.
The journey of physical stress can begin as early as birth. Whether babies are born naturally or via Cesarean section, the birthing experience can put a lot of pressure on their spine, which can lead to other issues. Babies can’t tell us when something’s wrong so these stressors can cause developmental challenges. During infancy, they might sleep in strange positions or take falls as they start moving around. When they become toddlers, learning to crawl and walk can add to the strain on their spine.
As kids grow, they face new challenges that affect their physical and spinal health. Poor posture can become a problem, especially if they spend too much time in front of screens or carry heavy backpacks incorrectly. Playing contact sports or sitting at desks for long periods can also cause issues. The stress on their bodies can increase when they become teenagers and take on more responsibilities, like part-time jobs or physical tasks.
Our pediatric chiropractic services address many issues infants, children, and teenagers commonly face. From breast and bottle-feeding challenges, including tongue and lip ties, to colic and gastrointestinal issues like reflux, we provide comprehensive care to improve comfort and well-being. Other conditions treated by pediatric chiropractic care include, but are not limited to:
- Delayed motor milestones
- Primitive reflex integration
- Toe walking (and toeing in/ out)
- W sitting
- Bedwetting
- Pain and sports injuries
- Concussion and post-concussion syndrome
- Growing pains
- Birth trauma
- Torticollis
- Plagiocephaly (flat head)
- Postural issues
- Thumb sucking and mouth breathing
What can I expect during my child’s pediatric physiotherapy treatment?
At Dynamic, your child’s initial visit will take approximately 1 hour. During our first visit, we will discover what’s bringing you in and learn more about your child’s current and past medical history. This will also include a thorough prenatal and birth history. The physical assessment will allow us to observe how your little one moves. We may also gently use our hands to assess tone, mobility, strength, and reflexes. We allow many breaks during the assessment to ensure your little one is not overwhelmed. Once the assessment is complete, we will review our findings and create a comprehensive and tailored treatment plan that suits you and your little one if physiotherapy is appropriate. Physiotherapy treatment may include parent education, fun-play-based exercise, gentle hands-on treatment and ongoing re-assessment of your little one’s progress. We aim to help optimize your child’s function by improving mobility, strength & balance. Ultimately, our goal is to empower your child to engage in functional & purposeful play and help them reach their full potential.
What can I expect during my child’s pediatric chiropractic treatment?
At Dynamic, your child’s initial visit will be approximately 60 minutes long. In that time, we will review your child’s current and past medical history, including feeding and prenatal/ birth history. The physical assessment can be done on our in-house baby pillows, in a parent’s arms/ chest, or while your little one is moving! We look to find areas of decreased mobility and function using gentle, experienced hands. Chiropractic bodywork helps improve your child’s function, focusing on increased strength, mobility and coordination from tongue to toes and primitive reflex integration. We are trained to work intraorally to assess and rehabilitate babies’ tongue function to aid in co-managing feeding difficulties. We look to assess and treat the whole body to ensure the proper function of your loved ones. Finally, we love educating patients and parents on ways to improve upon activities of daily living along with prescribing fun, play-based exercises they can do to support their child’s treatment plan.
Does my child need chiropractic care?
It’s important to recognize that children may not always express discomfort from spinal misalignments in ways that we expect when they are in pain. Due to their limited body awareness, they might not even realize a chronic issue is developing. Even in pain, they might struggle to communicate it, often showing signs like irritability or excessive crying. Additionally, spinal issues can manifest in various other childhood problems, highlighting the importance of considering chiropractic care for your child’s overall well-being.
When is the right time to consider therapy for your child?
If you observe any signs of developmental delay, mobility issues, balance challenges, speech or feeding difficulties, or if your child has received a diagnosis that may impact their overall development, it’s crucial to initiate therapy as early as possible. By starting therapy promptly, we can enhance your child’s quality of life and foster their independence from the outset, benefiting both them and you as caregivers.
